The Philatelic Bureau of the Department of Posts of Sri Lanka has issued two new postage stamps in the denominations of Rs. 15.00 and Rs. 35.00 and a souvenir sheet in the denomination of Rs. 50.00 on November 26, 2017, to mark the Christmas celebrations of 2017.

Drawings for these stamps have been created under the theme " Christmas, the Origin of Love."

St Anthony's Cathedral, Kandy:

Foundation stone for the cathedral was laid on the third day of the Feast of St Anthony which had fallen on June 13, 1875 and construction was completed within a very short period. This cathedral was blessed on December 15, 1877. This became a cathedral of the Kandy diocese with Kandy becoming an Archduchy in January 1887 which till then existed as a Diocese.
