Sri Lanka Philatelic Bureau of the Department of Posts has issueda new postage stamp in the denomination of Rs.15.00 to commemorate the World Children's Day 2016 on 01st October, 2016.

The World Children's day celebration commemorated around the world by different countries on different days in commemorated in Sri Lanka on the first of October.
Theme of this year Children's day is Let's Be Committed to Make the World Better for Children. The focus would on this day would be to develop the child's world by proper guidance, encouragement and appreciation.
CRC which was ratified in 1991 by Sri Lanka places the obligation of the state to develop a protective environment for children and the parents obligation on child raring, and protection of children's rights by taking appropriate action where necessary.
Thus this theme was taken as the theme for year 2016 and this stamp was developed to depict the theme to enhance necessity of safeguarding blissful childhood through sport and education. Lanka
