Sri Lanka Philatelic Bureau of the Department of Posts has issued a new postage stamp in the denomination of Rs 12.00 to commemorate World Health Day on the 7th of April 2018.
This year’s event has a special significance to Sri Lanka as the main global event will be held in Colombo. Sri Lanka has been chosen to hold the 70th World Health Day as mark of recognition of its commendable achievements in health sector. This is the first time that the global event to be held outside WHO head office
Every year on the 7th of April, World Health Organization celebrates World Health Day under a specific theme. This year’s theme is Universal Health Coverage (UHC). “Universal” in UHC means “for all”, without discrimination, leaving no one behind. Everyone everywhere has a right to benefit from health services they need without falling into poverty when using them.
This stamp was developed to reflect the vision of ensuring that everyone, everywhere can access essential quality health services.
